The recipes you’ll find on Pig n’ Pie are sourced from a variety of cookbooks, food blogs, and websites.
In our kitchen (slash living room, slash dinning room) we regularly pull these cookbooks from our bookshelf, consulting their pages for basic cooking advice, simple recipes, and classic dishes. Their recipes and instruction possess both depth and ease. Our bookshelf can only handle so many books (as previously hinted, our apartment is small!!) and we’re still expanding our oeuvre, but these cookbooks are the crème de la crème! The bare necessities! We would be lost without them.
Mark Bittman – How to Cook Everything
Alice Waters – The Art of Simple Food
Julia Child – Julia’s Kitchen Wisdom
Our laptops are also constantly open to Cooking with the New York Times and our fav NYT chef is Melissa Clark. We binge watch her cooking videos. She is aaaah-mazing.
We also frequent the following blogs, especially Hillary, who enjoys nothing more than scanning food blogs to whittle away the last 30 minutes of a work day (confession: more like the last hour of a work day).
Smitten Kitchen > Deb Perelman, the OG of food blogging
Spoon Fork Bacon > great recipes paired with excellent photos, typeface, and food gifs
Mimi Thorrison > skeptical this is actually real life, so beautiful
The Kitchn > thoughtful, simple, delicious, real life
Tastespotting > one can endlessly scroll and click through this amalgamation of foodie goodness
And as far a trashy food porn goes, we’re suckers for a good Chef’s Night Out video on Vice Munchies (here’s a favorite).
